Our Journey
Much like Fred MacMurray’s character in the 1947 classic The Egg and I, we often dreamed about what life might look like if we could slow down — to trade busyness for creativity, and practicality for passion. What would we make if we had the time? What paths might we follow if we led with heart instead of obligation?
That dream eventually became reality. We found ourselves ready for a new chapter — one rooted in purpose, simplicity, and the satisfaction of working with our hands. So, we bought a small hobby farm in Southern Oregon, where we now raise dairy goats, chickens, and medicinal herbs, and grow a garden full of ingredients that inspire our products.
From there, Butterfat Botanicals was born — a blend of curiosity, craftsmanship, and care. Every batch of soap, lotion, and body product is made by hand, using natural ingredients that reflect both our love of the land and our belief that skincare should be honest, nourishing, and deeply connected to nature.

Do you use essentisl oils?
Yes! Many of our products are made with 100% pure essential oils for naturally derived scent and skin benefits. When a product contains a fragrance that isn’t essential oil–based, it’s always clearly noted in the product description. We believe in transparency — so you’ll always know what’s in your product and can choose the option that best fits your preferences.
What type of botanical do you use?
We infuse many of our products with botanical oils to enhance their natural skin benefits. Whenever possible, we use locally sourced and organically grown herbs and flowers, which we infuse ourselves using high-quality luxury oils.These botanicals not only add beauty but also bring vitamins, antioxidants, and soothing properties to your skin.
What kind of oils & butters do you use in your products?
We select only high-quality, naturally derived oils and butters that are sustainably sourced and rich in nutrients. You’ll find ingredients like olive oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter in our formulations. We are proud to say our soaps are always palm oil–free, reflecting our commitment to both skin health and environmental responsibility.
Do you use fragrance oils?
Some of our products include fragrance oils, which are carefully blended using both essential oils and select synthetic components to create scents that can’t be achieved with natural oils alone. We always ensure these fragrances are phthalate-free, skin-safe, and responsibly sourced. For those who prefer all-natural options, we always have 100% essential oil products available.
Why do you use cland & charcoal?
We use clays and activated charcoal to naturally color and enrich our soaps and skincare products. These ingredients help cleanse, purify, and balance the skin — offering a gentle, natural alternative to synthetic colorants.
Do your products contain preservatives & emulsifiers?
Yes — for safety and stability, certain products require preservatives or emulsifiers, which help prevent bacteria growth and maintain consistency. We carefully choose options that are as natural and skin-friendly as possible, balancing product safety with our dedication to ingredient integrity.
